Lecture: The standoff between humans and microbes
Kim Lewis
Dr. Kim Lewis, discoverer of a new antibiotic called teixobactin, will deliver this year’s 2015 Armes lecture hosted by the department of chemistry at the University of Manitoba.
Lewis is a Distinguished Professor at Northeastern University and director of the Antimicrobial Discovery Centre in Boston. His work on teixobactin, which avoids bacterial resistance, has received worldwide attention (Quirks and Quarks interview here).
On Sept. 10 he will deliver a free public lecture, “The standoff between humans and microbes” and on Sept. 11 he will deliver a specialized lecture, “The quest for new antibiotics.”
