Engineers Canada 2013 Meritorious Service Award for Professional Service –
Dr. Ron Britton, P.Eng., FEC, FCAE
Dr. Ron Britton’s career achievements are surpassed only by his commitment to professional service. Through his tireless voluntary effort and his striving for excellence in the delivery of engineering education, Ron is one of the principle leaders in the rebirth of engineering design instruction in Canadian engineering schools.
He was a leader in establishing the Canadian Engineering Education Association and has guided the idea into a dynamic organization that is now recognized as the national voice of engineering academics.
Ron has been an exemplary and effective volunteer with APEGM for many years, including six year on council, seven years on the Board of Directors of the APEGM Foundation, Inc., and one year as President. Ron’s service to Engineers Canada has been integral to his service to the provincial association. He served on the Board of Directors from 2003-2006. He has also worked with with the Internationally Educated Engineers Qualification program at the University of Manitoba, with the Board of Directors of Engineers Canada and with several Engineers Canada committees.
Excellence in Sustainability – Dr. Nazim Cicek, P.Eng.
Dr. Nazim Cicek, Biosystems Engineering, was recently presented with a 2012 Manitoba Excellence in Sustainability Award. The Manitoba Round Table for Sustainable Development established the awards to recognize and honour people, projects and ideas that successfully turn the principles and guidelines of sustainable development into lasting achievements. Dr. Cicek was recognized for his research on water and nutrient management and biofuel generation.
2013 Award of Excellence in Engineering Education – Dr. Dagmar Svecova, P.Eng.
Dr. Dagmar Svecova, Civil Engineering, was presented with the 2013 Award of Excellence in Engineering Education by the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba.
