FEB. 6 UPDATE: Power restored to nursing building and parkade
Update Feb.6, 6:52 a.m.: Power has been restored to the Helen Glass Centre for Nursing and the parkade. Physical Plant is now conducting a throughly test of all building systems and every indication is showing the repair was successful.
Update Feb. 5, 8:55 a.m.: Investigations revealed that more work is required in order to restore power to the Helen Glass Centre for Nursing; power remains out in this building and the parkade. Physical Plant continues to work with Manitoba Hydro to remedy this problem as quickly as possible. The College of Nursing will continue to send communications to students on this matter, and students can also look for updates on D2L. The parkade can only take credit card payments at this time. Due to the closure of the Helen Glass Centre for Nursing, the Nursing information sessions scheduled for Feb. 5 and 6 are cancelled.
Update Feb.4, 8:52 a.m.: The power remains out in the affected area. The nursing building will remain closed for the day and the parkade can take only credit card payments for the time being. The College of Nursing is trying to arrange for alternate classrooms so students can continue their lessons. The College will send communications to students on this matter, and students can also look for updates on D2L.
Please be advised that the Helen Glass Centre for Nursing has been closed due to a lack of power on Tuesday, Feb. 3. Physical Plant is investigating the problem. It is suspected the building will remain closed for the day. UM Today will report updates as they become available.
The parkade is also affected but Parking Services says the gates and pay machines are still operating. A parking attendant is nevertheless stationed nearby to assist if any person experiences a problem.
