Sustainability Night 2024 is Mar. 13!

Discuss and learn more about Climate Action Plan initiatives in progress

February 28, 2024 —

The University of Manitoba’s annual Sustainability Night is coming up on Mar. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Marshall McLuhan Hall. This year’s theme is the UM Climate Action Plan (CAP), which will be the main focus of presentations from UM faculty, students and staff.

Each PechaKucha-style presentation (20 slides, 20 seconds each) will showcase the research and work being done to help UM reach its 2050 climate goals based on each of the four CAP pillars: energy and buildings, transportation, waste and land.

“Sustainability Night is a great opportunity for the UM community to come together to network and share ideas that not only move along our Climate Action Plan but build toward a more sustainable future for all Manitobans,” said Raman Dhaliwal, Associate Vice-President (Admin).

The presenters for Sustainability Night 2024 are:

  • Transportation: Fiona Lebar, graduate student in the faculty of Environment and Geography and Office of Sustainability staff
  • Waste and transportation: Kate Oeltjenbruns, undergraduate student in Biosystems Engineering
  • Energy and buildings: Shauna Mallory-Hill, associate dean (Research), associate professor, Department of Interior Design, Faculty of Architecture

Sustainability Night tickets are $5 and can be purchased in advance. Light refreshments will be served throughout the evening.
