Two Asper alumni named to Order of Manitoba
The Asper School of Business is proud to share that two members of our alumni community and longtime members of the Associates: Gregg Hanson, C.M. [BComm(Hons)/76, CA/79, LLD/18]; and Arni Thorsteinson [BComm(Hons)/71, LLD/09] were recently announced as inductees to the prestigious Order of Manitoba.

We are fortunate to have them as leaders in the province and as supporters of our school and the wider University community. I know I speak among many in congratulating them both on this honour,” said Dr. Gady Jacoby, Dean and CPA Manitoba Chair of Business Leadership.

According to the website dedicated to the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, The Order of Manitoba was established in 1999 to honour Manitobans who have demonstrated excellence and achievement, thereby enriching the social, cultural or economic well-being of the province and its residents. The list of all members of the Order of Manitoba is on permanent display in the Legislative Building.
Along with their contributions to the province, Hanson and Thorsteinson made a significant impact as members of the President’s Campaign Team and donors for the University of Manitoba’s Front and Centre Campaign, playing a role in raising more than $600 million for the University. Additionally, as one of the founding members of the Associates, as President of the University of Manitoba Business School Foundation, and as Chair of the International Distinguished Entrepreneur Award (IDEA) Committee, Thorsteinson has played a leading role in elevating the visibility and stature of the Asper School of Business and the University of Manitoba on national and international scale.
Hanson and Thorsteinson are two of the twelve Manitobans receiving this year’s honour at the formal ceremony scheduled to take place on July 15, 2021 at the Manitoba Legislative Building.
