Community members invited to discuss proposed Bachelor of Social Work curriculum

November 27, 2020 —

The Faculty of Social Work would like to invite all to attend a town hall meeting to obtain your feedback on our proposed Bachelor of Social Work curriculum. This newly formulated curriculum is based on the inputs we got from those who attended our community consultation in December last year. It is also a culmination of a few years of assessment and consultation with faculty members, community members, students, and other constituents.

This re-visioned BSW curriculum has a clear focus on Indigenization, Reconciliation and Decolonization. The new curriculum also conceptualized under domains of social justice and human rights, professional values and ethics, and community wellness. Students will have more opportunities to choose electives they find relevant to their social work practice.

The Faculty of Social Work would like to ensure that past feedback has been incorporated in a meaningful way. We will be asking for volunteers from the community to assist with the development and/or provide consultation regarding the development of the new courses.

Participation in this meeting would be greatly appreciated and we hope you will consider attending. Please RSVP to by December 3, 2020 to Anita Bhinder at: anita.bhinder@umanitoba.ca to receive applicable documents for the meeting.
