Stephan Pflugmacher Lima has been named new dean of the Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources
Dr. Stephan Pflugmacher Lima, an inspiring leader committed to innovation and global collaboration, has been named Dean of the Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources effective September 1, 2020.
Dr. Pflugmacher Lima received his PhD from the University of Munich and served as a Full Professor of Ecological Impact Research & Ecotoxicology at the Technical University Berlin. He is currently a Professor of Aquatic Ecotoxicology in an Urban Environment at the University of Helsinki where he runs a Joint Laboratory of Applied Ecotoxicology with the Korean Institute of Science and Technology (KIST Europe). His research has been supported by federal and regional ministries of China, Brazil, South Korea, Germany and Finland.
He has held administrative positions at the Technical University of Berlin and at the University of Helsinki, in addition to serving the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the German Research Foundation, Lithuanian Research Council and as an advisory board member of Cancer Research and Biotechnology AG in Switzerland.
With a passion for promoting science and learning, Dr. Pflugmacher Lima involves himself with many organizations that inspire the public to engage with research, and that foster connections between researchers and businesses.
