Bisons this week

Women's hockey and basketball are at home, men's hockey and volleyball take to the road and head west

November 5, 2018 — 

The Bison women’s basketball team is celebrating their strongest start in many years after a weekend sweep of the Mount Royal Cougars. With the pair of wins the team now holds a 4-0 record and sits at the top of the Canada West standings along with Trinity Western and University of North British Columbia. 

The herd will be back on their home court against the UBC Thunderbirds this Friday, November 9 and Saturday, November 10. The women will tip off on Friday at 6 p.m. followed by the men at 8 p.m. and on Saturday at 5 p.m. followed by men’s action at 7 p.m. All games will be played at Investors Group Athletic Centre.

Women’s hockey will also play at home this weekend. Currently tied with Alberta for top spot in Canada West, they will face off against the Lethbridge Pronghorns at the Wayne Fleming Arena on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.

Regular admission is $10 at the gate. UM Students and fans 17 and under get in for free. 

Men’s hockey and the volleyball teams will be on the road this weekend. Hockey will travel to Lethbridge while volleyball will visit UBC for a showdown against the Thunderbirds.

Swimming 

Bison swimmer Kelsey Wog (Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences) set two meet records and stood at the top of the podium on five occasions last weekend at the Odlum Brown College Cup in Vancouver. Second year Bison teammate Dora Modrcin (Faculty of Engineering) also collected three medals.

Football

The Bison 2018 football season came to an end last Saturday after falling to the undefeated Calgary Dinos in the conference semi-final by a score of 37-13.
