We’ve got spirit, yes we do

Friday’s contests are next up on the Student Residences’ Spirit Cup calendar which means a few hundred residents will show up to IGAC to cheer on the Bisons all the while earning points for their respective residences. Each house is challenged to collect points by having the best attendance at a series of events throughout the year which includes Bison games. At the end of the year the residence with the most points wins a cash prize and the Spirit Cup.

“We love hosting Student Residences for Spirit Cup games and we value our partnership with them” says Lisa Tinley, Associate Director, Athletics and Recreation. “The atmosphere the residents bring is electric. They have an enormous impact on the game day experience and their energy fuels the teams’ performance.”

The University of Manitoba Students’ Union is the game day sponsor on Friday night. Fans will be entertained by Billy, in-game activities, giveaways and some of the best hard court action in Canada West.

The teams will meet again on Saturday with the women playing at 5 p.m. and the men at 7 p.m.

Double the fun, don’t miss women’s hockey

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, admission on Friday will also let you cheer on the number one-ranked women’s hockey team. The Bisons will host the Saskatchewan Huskies at 7 p.m. at the Wayne Fleming Arena, a rematch of last season’s Canada West Final that saw the Bisons win 2-0 in the best-of-three series.
