Changes to Responsibilities of Academic Staff with regard to Students (ROASS) policy and procedure
In effect Sept 1, 2016
Changes to the Responsibilities of Academic Staff with regard to Students (ROASS) policy and procedure have been approved by the Board of Governors. The policy and procedure outlines academic responsibilities of academic staff at both individual and unit levels.
The update comprises changes to information provided by faculty and instructors to students at the start of classes. It’s a modernization of the policy and procedure, notes Mark Torchia, executive director of the Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (The Centre), the unit that supports faculty and instructors with teaching and university information systems such as UM Learn.
Janice Ristock, Provost and Vice-President (Academic), says, “The ROASS change incorporates updates to other policies, procedures and resources such as grade appeals, the policy on academic honesty and new policies such as the Respectful Work and Learning Environment policy and the Sexual Assault policy.”
The new policy comes into effect Sept. 1.
