Dr. Gerry Price was born in Winnipeg, attending schools in East Kildonan and the University of Manitoba. He holds a Bachelor of Science (1970) and Masters of Science (1972) degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manitoba, as well as a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. In his graduate studies he used thermofluid modeling techniques to study theoretical meteorological problems. Following graduate studies, he worked briefly as a Defense Scientific Services Officer for the Defense Research Board in Alberta, working on mathematically modeling the response of structures to blast waves.
Gerry joined E.H. Price Limited in 1977, and over the past 30 years has held a number of positions in the contracting, information technology, manufacturing and sales divisions. He moved to Singapore in 1985 and played a major role in the start-up of their Singapore operation. In 1986, Gerry became President of E.H. Price and proceeded more aggressively with growth strategies for the Price Group, including their expansion into the USA in the late 1980s. During his tenure in the company he has launched many new product lines, factory expansions and new business units. The rapid growth of the Price Group is based on three ingredients: best-in-class service, relentless product development, and providing e-commerce and multimedia marketing aides.
Today, Gerry is Chairman and CEO of the Price Group (Canada), Price Companies, Inc. (Atlanta and Phoenix), APEL Extrusions Limited (Calgary) and AROW Global Inc. (Winnipeg & Mosinee, WI). Gerry is a board member of many community and charitable organizations, and is a member of many professional associations, including the Association of Professional Engineers for the Province of Manitoba, Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society, and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers. Always passionate about supporting the University of Manitoba, Gerry served as Chair of the Manufacturing Division of fundraising for the Engineering & Information Technology Complex, and is a founder and Board Member of the Friends of Engineering (Manitoba) Inc.
