VIDEO: The Tim Hortons roll-up dilemma

February 28, 2014 —

Every year, coffee chain Tim Hortons runs their Roll Up The Rim To Win contest. Most Canadians are familiar with it, but for those who aren’t, in short, you roll up the rim of your coffee cup when you are done drinking it, and then discover if you won a prize. One prize is a car. But let’s say your friend buys you a coffee and your cup wins the car. Ethically, what are you to do? Who gets the car? We asked people around campus for their thoughts, and then sought the wisdom of a philosopher.

What would you do if you won? And what would you expect someone to do if they won off your purchase? Tell us.
