The June Dutka (SPC’64) Ignatian Leadership Endowment Fund
The Board of Directors of St. Paul’s College Foundation Inc. and the Board of Governors for St. Paul’s College are pleased to announce the creation of the June Dutka (SPC’64) Ignatian Leadership Endowment Fund.
The Board of Directors of St. Paul’s College Foundation Inc. and the Board of Governors for St. Paul’s College are pleased to announce the creation of the June Dutka (SPC’64) Ignatian Leadership Endowment Fund. The Fund, which was created in June 2020, recognizes the contribution of June Dutka’s legacy to St. Paul’s College, the University of Manitoba, as well as to celebrate the combined influence that the Jesuits, Ignatian teachings, and the Ukrainian Catholic Church had on her during her formative years as a student at St. Paul’s College.
June Dutka, a Winnipeg born librarian and local author, graduated from St. Paul’s College at the University of Manitoba (BA 1964) and the University of British Columbia (BLS 1966). For thirty-two years, she was employed at the University of Manitoba Elizabeth Dafoe Library, where she headed the Government Publications Collection. In her last three years of her career she served as the Libraries’ Development Officer. In recognition of her accomplishments, the University of Manitoba granted her the title of Librarian Emeritus in 2001.
The Fund will provide annual support to the newly launched Ignatian Leadership Program (ILP), offered at St. Paul’s College. Upon graduation from the University of Manitoba, students who finish this extra-curricular program will receive a notarized ILP Statement of Program Completion.
The Fund will also support an annual award in the form of the June Dutka (SPC’64) Ignatian Leadership Prize for a student in the ILP who has the highest overall grade point average at time of graduation.
“By creating the Ignatian Leadership Endowment Fund it is my hope that students enrolled in the (Ignatian Leadership) Program will continue to demonstrate Ignatian values such as humility, consolation and personal discernment throughout their lives in order to make the world a better place”, says June Dutka.
June Dutka continues to be dedicated to her Canadian Ukrainian heritage and traditions and understands the value of assessment and renewal for each generation. She previously served on the St. Paul’s College Foundation’s Board of Directors and continues to be an active alumni leader in the College’s community.
