Dr. Josée Lavoie, a professor of community health sciences in the University of Manitoba’s Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, has been appointed the inaugural dean of the College of Community and Global Health (CCGH).

August 21, 2025 — 
The long-standing tradition of the White Coat Ceremony, where incoming students put on white coats to mark their entrance into Max Rady College of Medicine took place at the Centennial Concert Hall, Wednesday, August 20, 2025. This is the first time the ceremony was held at the hall due to the size of the class--140 students, 11 of whom are Indigenous will graduate in 2029.

Dr. Catherine Cook, MD, MSc, CCFP, FCFP and V.P. Emerita (Indigenous), has been named as the 2025 inductee to the Winnipeg Citizens Hall of Fame. She is the 51st inductee with her likeness unveiled today at Assiniboine Park.

Help improve antidepressant treatment for children and youth: Join a UM research study

The research team is seeking children and youth aged six to 24 who have taken SSRI antidepressants for depression, anxiety or OCD to help personalize treatment in Manitoba and beyond.
