Most people wouldn’t think of art to address chronic illness. But for Jen Sebring, a PhD candidate at the College of Community and Global Health (CCGH) in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, art became a powerful and thought-provoking tool to better understand and support those with chronic health conditions and disabilities.

A Manitoban physician is leading the way across Canada in working towards getting everyone proper medical care, including those who have been discriminated against in the past.  On top of being a physician, Dr. Jayson Stoffman (director, PGME academic curriculum; chair, PGME academic curriculum committee) is the program director for the pediatric residency program at the University of Manitoba.

Mariel Guarang is interested in becoming a nurse, so she signed up for the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Discovery Days in Health Sciences held on the UM Bannatyne campus on November 13.

A University of Manitoba PhD candidate with a dramatic life story has been awarded the Mitacs Innovation Award for co-inventing an aspiring new drug candidate for treating amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, announced Monday.

New graduates from the College of Rehabilitation Sciences and Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program at the Max Rady College of Medicine celebrated at fall convocation Nov. 6 at Bannatyne campus.
