A new study from researchers at the University of Manitoba’s Rady Faculty of Health Sciences has identified a possible treatment option and greater understanding of recurrent glioblastoma, a fatal form of brain cancer and the one that took beloved Canadian musician Gord Downie’s life in 2017.

Dr. Peter Nickerson, vice-provost (health sciences) and dean, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, and Dr. Marcia Anderson, vice-dean Indigenous health, social justice and anti-racism, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, are pleased to announce that Kagowa Kuruneri has been appointed director of the Rady Faculty office of equity, access and participation, effective Jan. 3, 2025.
