July 16, 2024 – Winnipeg, MB – St. Paul’s College is proud to announce the establishment of the Allen and Brenda Yost Endowment Fund, created in 2023 by Brenda Yost (SPC/UM ’70, ’72, ’82) in memory of her late husband, Allen Yost (SPC/UM ’68, ’81). This fund is a lasting tribute to the Yosts’ deep connection with St. Paul’s College and their lifelong dedication to education, personal development, and community engagement.

 Allen W. Yost (SPC/UM ’68, ’81)

Allen Yost’s distinguished academic career at St. Paul’s College and the University of Manitoba led to a Bachelor of Science Degree (Gold Medalist) and a Bachelor of Law. Recognized for his sharp intellect, Allen made significant contributions to the University’s computer centre, played a key role in the AESES organization, and developed a deep appreciation for Human Resources. His career spanned working in law firms and serving as an adjudicator for the Federal Government. Allen passed away in the fall of 2017.

Brenda M. Yost (nee Foster) (SPC/SPC ’70, ’72, ’82)

Brenda Yost, a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy (1959), obtained her teaching certificate in 1960 and pursued further education at St. Paul’s College, earning a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education. After marrying Allen in 1971, Brenda continued her academic journey, earning a Master of Education in 1982. Brenda’s career in educational leadership included roles as Deputy Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and as principal of St. Amant School and Victor Mager School. In 1998, she founded her business as an educational advisor. Brenda’s volunteer work with various social service agencies in Winnipeg, especially those supporting children and youth, further exemplifies her commitment to community service.

The Legacy of the Endowment Fund

The fund annually awards the Allen and Brenda Yost Bursary, administered by the Dean of Studies, to support a St. Paul’s College student at the University of Manitoba who demonstrates financial need and actively contributes to the College and community activities. This endowment fund ensures the Yosts’ legacy of service and dedication to education will inspire future generations to make a positive impact on their communities.
