School of Art launches Prep Studies Program for young artists
The School of Art is excited to launch the SOA Prep Studies Program, offering online summer programming for youth ages 8 to 17 to build and develop their artistic abilities. Led by members of our experienced faculty: artists, designers, and educators, the program will provide a strong base in the visual arts, encourage creative growth through self-expression, and build a foundation in technical skills.

Digital Comic Strip Drawing
August 10 – 12 & 17 – 19, 2021
This course is designed for those who are interested in using their smartphones and tablets to create art.
In this class, we will develop imaginary characters and we will develop a story for a comic strip. We will use our smartphones to photograph backgrounds for our story. We will use Adobe Illustrator to draw our characters onto our background photographs to create scenes that describe the narrative.
This will be a fast-paced class designed to encourage students to imagine how they can use their phones and tablets to create artwork. We will work together as a group to develop imaginary characters and think together to develop a story filled with these characters.
