New faculty members
Dr. Qiuyan Yuan joined the Department of Civil Engineering in July of 2013 as an assistant professor. She earned her PhD from the University of Manitoba. Her research interests are in the areas of biological nutrient removal from wastewater, solid waste treatment, and phosphorus recovery. The goal of her research is to develop sustainable technologies for water and waste treatment processes that will reduce the environmental burden, carbon footprint, and greenhouse gas emissions. She has published over 20 journal papers and conference proceedings. She is also interested in community outreach to promote environmental awareness.
Dr. Ian Jeffrey joined the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering in July of 2013. He received his B.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering and M.Sc. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Manitoba in 2002 and 2004, respectively. During his graduate work, Dr. Jeffrey was awarded M.Sc. and Ph.D. NSERC scholarships, a University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship, a MITACS Accelerate Internship and, most recently, a MITACS NCE Post-Doctoral Fellowship. From February to May 2008 he was an Intern Software Developer at Cadence Design Systems Inc., Department of Custom Integrated Research in Tempe, Arizona. Dr. Jeffrey’s current research interests are: large-scale and high-performance computational electromagnetics; time-domain electromagnetic-field modeling on unstructured grids, and high-order, frequency-domain electromagnetic-field modeling.
