Medicine Art Show now accepting submissions

March 5, 2019 —

Calling all artists in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences.

Submissions are now open to all students, faculty and staff for the annual Max Rady College of Medicine Art Show. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a painter, cartoonist or sculptor – the exhibit is showing mediums of all sorts.

The exhibit is organized by the Creative Arts Interest Group and the theme of this year’s show is In the Blink of an Eye.

“We’re hoping to have students and faculty, whoever submits their art, either reflect on the physical aspects of the eye – like neurology or musculature – or look at events in their life or career that have happened very quickly or seem to have happened in the blink of an eye,” said Kristen Braun, a second-year medical student who is one of the organizers.

Submissions are being accepted until April 10. If you would like to submit your work, or you are looking for more information, please email mmartclub [at] gmail [dot] com.

“We’re hoping to really impress upon both students, faculty and the community that art is a real key component in medicine and that having interests outside anything strictly science related is really beneficial,” Braun said.

The show runs from April 15-18 in the Brodie Centre atrium. The opening gala is on April 15 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
