Thank you, engineering community!

July 7, 2022 —

We would like to thank members of the engineering community of Manitoba, Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba, and the many volunteers who made the 2022 Making Links Engineering Classic such a success.

Each year, this event organized by Engineers Geoscientist Manitoba, helps raise funds for our faculty to continue to deliver an exception student experience and leading programs at both he graduate and undergraduate level. This year, the Making Links Classic raised over $13,000 for our faculty!

As Manitoba’s only professional engineering school, we are privileged to engage with all sectors of engineering practice and industry in our Province.  As Covid-19 eases and things have been opening up since spring, I have appreciated every opportunity to visit engineering workplaces and attend events as we renew our connections and to see the amazing diversity of what the engineering profession accomplishes in Manitoba. Your support of this golf tournament directly supports our students by allowing us to create welcoming and productive spaces, support teaching technology, support student design competition teams – a highlight for many of their time as students – and contributing to capital campaigns such as the Stanley Pauley Engineering Building opened in 2019.  This event makes a difference in the life of the Price Faculty of Engineering. Thank you again for your support of the Making Links Engineering Classic. –  Dr. Marcia Friesen, PhD, P.Eng., FEC, Dean, Price Faculty of Engineering

Representatives from Friends of Engineering and both the faculty’s Co-op/IIP Office were on hand at the event meeting and greeting with golfers throughout the day. Janelle Martell, Co-op/IIP Development Engineer, and Nick Sears, Executive Director of Friends of Engineering spent the day connecting with golfers and letting them know about the Friends program and the many ways employers can get involved with Co-op/IIP. Friends of Engineering was pleased to sponsor a hole at the event and offer a seat to Co-op/IIP, continuing to demonstrate how they are working to bridge industry and the faculty while also supporting students directly through their membership program.

The Price Faculty of Engineering thanks all those involved with Making Links 2022 and for their support of our faculty. We look forward to seeing everyone again at next year’s classic on June 15, 2023.
