Historic Boston Beckons

February 2, 2015 —

It won’t exactly be a tea party, but it is a sure bet for a good time and some great fellowship. The College of Dentistry is welcoming alumni, academics and friends to join together in historic Boston, MA, this spring for a celebration reception on Sunday, March 8, 2015.

In conjunction with the American Dental Education Association annual meeting and exhibition, the College of Dentistry reception will take place in the Hampton Room, located on the third level of the Sheraton Boston Hotel, beginning at 6 pm.

An annual event at the ADEA meetings, this year’s reception figures to be a bit more special than those in the past. The evening could be considered a kick–off for the Gies Awards celebrations slated for the next evening, where the University of Manitoba’s College of Dentistry will receive the award for Outstanding Innovation – Academic Dental Institution.

It is the first time the University of Manitoba has been selected to receive this highly prestigious honour and is the first time a Canadian school has been so honoured in this award category by the ADEAGies Foundation, sponsoring body of the award. The university is receiving the award for a curriculum project entitled Oral-Systemic Health Education for Non-Dental Healthcare Providers, launched by the International Centre for Oral-Systemic Health (ICOSH) within the College of Dentistry.

Individuals and organizations from around the world compete for the annual Gies Awards, which honour those who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to dental education, research and leadership.

The College of Dentistry wishes to acknowledge and thank Designs for Vision for graciously and generously supporting this year’s event.
