Road to defend Hardy Cup begins

Bison football team start on the road defending the Hardy Cup in the conference semi-final

The University of Manitoba Bison football team start the road defending the Hardy Cup in the conference semi-final this Saturday when they take on UBC at 2:00pm Central Time. Tune in to catch the game live on Global TV.

The Bisons finished the regular season with a 5-and-3 record. They split the two regular season games with UBC.

Manitoba has made the CIS Top 10 in all nine weeks and are ranked eighth overall.

Three players were named to the Canada West Football All-Star Team.

On offence, first-year Jamel Lyles is a multiple All-Star at two positions (running back and kick returner).

On defence, second-year (fourth-year eligibility) Evan Foster was named at the defensive end position and fourth-year David Onyemata at the interior lineman position.

VOLLEYBALL:

Mount Royal Cougars roll into town this weekend to take on the herd in week four of Canada West volleyball action.

Bison men look to extend their win streak after a flawless start to their season while the women plan to make a charge up the rankings.

Games are at Investors Group Athletic Centre on Friday with the men at 6:00pm and women at 7:30pm, then again Saturday men at 4:30pm and women at 6:00pm.

BASKETBALL:

The Bison men and women’s basketball teams head to Saskatchewan over the weekend for a couple of games against the Huskies.

This weekend marks the first regular season series of the year.

HOCKEY:

The Bison men’s hockey team will travel to Alberta this weekend to take on the Golden Bears on Friday and Saturday night.
