The St John’s college food services operations, specifically the Daily Bread Café and Soup4U, are at the heart of the community at St John’s college. The college prides itself on bringing people together over a delicious meal and refreshments, especially for events throughout the college and UM campus.
Behind the food services operations of the college are passionate staff like Stephanie Griffth, who you may have seen in the Daily Bread Café, Soup4U, or catering events throughout the college. Since joining the food services team in October 1999, Stephanie has been around the college for 24 years and brings her positivity to work daily to inspire others.
It was a conversation with Ian Park, Food Services Manager at St John’s college that sparked Stephanie’s interest to work at the college where he approached her at an old job they were working together at the time. Ian gave her a job right on the spot as a service person in the college, where she has now worked her way up to being one of the cooks in the Daily Bread Café.
After sitting down with Stephanie to talk about her story, it’s clear that her love for the college doesn’t come just from the work she does but from the people she works with.
“The motivational factor for staying so long is the people I’m working with and learning something new daily. The people here are exceptional.”
Being cross-trained in all areas, Stephanie is a hard worker who often prepares food in residence, caters for events, and serves at the Soup4U and Daily Bread Café all in one shift.
