Community of big hearts hosts stories of strength

An inspirational evening to take place in St John’s College on May 30th

May 15, 2024 —

On a night of celebrating Indigenous success, St John’s College proudly hosts the Community of Big Hearts, Stories of Strength and Resilience on May 30 at 5:30 pm.

The Stories of Strength Project stands as a collaborative endeavor, championed by CanU, the University of Can, an organization devoted to fostering hope, confidence, and leadership among the youth of Winnipeg.

This year’s event hosted at SJC aims to bring a diverse panel of women together to share their Indigenous stories in what will be an inspirational evening.

This year’s speakers include Bison Women’s Basketball athlete, Emily Mandamin, first women from Fisher River Cree nation to become a doctor, Dr. Brooke Cochrane, the Minister of Families of the Manitoba Legislative Assembly, Nahanni Fontaine, and emcee Salena Starling, the President and CEO of the Community Big Hearts.

As Salena Starling notes, it will be a night to remember and learn from women across our province.

“Our focus is showcasing Indigenous women’s success. It’s an amazing group of women who will share what Indigenous excellence looks like.”
