Bisons this week

November 28, 2014 —

Football season is officially over, as the best-in-the-west Manitoba Bisons could not complete the fourth-quarter comeback last weekend against the Montreal Carabins in the Uteck Bowl. Their admirable playoff run included back-to-back road wins, a Hardy Cup victory, and an exciting CIS Semi-Final.

This weekend on campus the Bison basketball teams are in action at Investors Group Athletic Centre, hosting the Lethbridge Pronghorns on November 28 & 29. The 11th place women’s team continues to search for their first win of the season, and these matches against the 9th place Pronghorns will provide a perfect opportunity. Meanwhile, the men’s team is currently tied for first place in the conference with a record of 6-2. The offence drives this Bison team with a conference-leading 86.8 point-per-game average.

The women’s hockey team will host the #3 ranked Alberta Pandas on November 28 & 29 at Wayne Fleming Arena on the University of Manitoba Fort Garry campus. Heading into this weekend’s series, the Bisons are tied for first place in the Canada West standings with a 7-2-4-1 record.

Also at home:

  • The Bisons track team will compete in the Manitoba Last Chance Meet on November 28 & 29 at the Max Bell Fieldhouse.
  • The Bison Spring IM Invitational swim meet takes place at Pan Am Pool on Saturday, November 29

On the road:

  • Men’s hockey team heads to Edmonton to face the Alberta Golden Bears on November 28 & 29.
