Alumna appointed as president at U of W

June 25, 2014 —

Alumna Annette Trimbee is the new president of the U of W effective Aug. 1. She has been appointed to a five-year term.

Professor Trimbee earned her Master of Science in Botany from the University of Manitoba in 1980, and her PhD in ecology from McMaster University in 1984.

“I’d like to congratulate Dr. Trimbee on her appointment. It is always rewarding to recognize the accomplishments of our alumni, and particularly rewarding to have the opportunity to work together as colleagues.  I am looking forward to what certainly will be a collaborative and productive working relationship,” said Dr. David Barnard, President and Vice-Chancellor at the University of Manitoba.

Chancellor and alumnus Harvey Secter also offered his regards to the new president.

“It is always pleasing to see a fellow Winnipegger return home to enrich our community with her successes. The University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg have collaborated on many teaching, outreach and research projects that have bettered our city and its people, and I look forward to watching this relationship grow stronger,” said Harvey Secter, Chancellor at the University of Manitoba.  “Welcome home, Dr. Trimbee, and congratulations.”
