Medicine & Human Rights

The College of Medicine Class of 1972 Arnold Naimark Lecture in Medicine and Society presents Medicine & Human Rights by Jonathan Cohen on Friday, Oct. 2, 2015 in Brodie Atrium at the University of Manitoba’s Bannatyne Campus.

 

jonathan-cohen-2 800x533Jonathan Cohen (pictured) is deputy director of the Open Society Public Health Program, a global grant-making and advocacy program that promotes human rights standards and approaches in public health. He was previously director of the Program’s Law and Health Initiative. From 2002 to 2006, Cohen was a researcher with the HIV/AIDS and Human Rights Program at Human Rights Watch, where he investigated rights violations linked to the AIDS epidemics in sub-Saharan Africa, southeast Asia, and North America. A Canadian lawyer, Cohen served as a law clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada in 2001 and was co-editor-in-chief of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law Review. He has degrees from Yale College, the University of Cambridge, and the University of Toronto Faculty of Law.

The lecture is from 12 noon until 1 p.m.
