The Canadian military just wrapped up its annual military exercise in the Arctic. As usual, it involved western allies, including the United States. But U.S. President Donald Trump’s tendency to favour Russia over NATO brings new questions about Canada’s Arctic security. Andrea Charron, director of the University of Manitoba’s Centre for Defence and Security Studies, weighs in on the changing landscape.
