Asper School of Business kicks off strategic planning

Community voices a key first step in the process

August 21, 2024 —

The Asper School of Business has officially started its strategic planning process to inform its next phase of business education excellence.

Bruno Silvestre, Dean of the Asper School of Business and CPA Manitoba Chair in Business Leadership, reflects on the success of the School’s current strategic plan, Pursuing Our Asper-ations and explains why this next phase is so exciting for Manitoba’s business school.

“As our current plan comes to an end, we can be proud of the incredible strides we have made in each strategic pillar, pursued in the spirit of excellence, inclusiveness, agility, integrity and community,” he says.

“Together we have increased experiential learning opportunities, elevated our international and local reputation for research, worked in consultation with Indigenous stakeholders to advance our commitment to Reconciliation, cultivated an engaged and inclusive community that extends far beyond the halls of the Drake Centre, enhanced our BComm and graduate programs, and invested in the transformation of our physical and technological infrastructure.”

“This next phase builds on the success of the last six years and gives us a chance to tap into the collective energy and knowledge of our community today—the faculty, staff, students, alumni and business community partners invested in advancing business education for a better world in our Province,” says Silvestre.

The plan will be developed in the coming months, beginning with focus groups and surveys launching this October for members of the Asper community before more broad consultation kicks off in the new year.

“To students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of The Associates of the Asper School of Business, we want to hear from you. We want to learn more about your vision on the role the Asper School should play in the community, the values that we should embrace and the areas we must prioritize to better serve our students and this Province,” he says.

“Our community is the foundation of this process,” Silvestre explains. “Our mission to provide transformative business education and create impactful research here in Manitoba is not possible without the work of thousands of individuals moving forward together into tomorrow.

“It all starts by sharing your voice.”
