The University of Manitoba Space Applications and Technology Society (UMSATS) won the prestigious UrtheCast Educational Outreach Award at the recent Canadian Satellite Design Challenge (CDSC).

Student members of UMSATS were the top in Canada for their exemplary display of leadership and outreach with engaging educational programming to schools and the general public.

UMSATS embody the spirit of the UrtheCaste Educational Outreach Award and the CDSC with their dedication and passion to enhance space-ralated knowledge and inspire Canada’s next generation of leaders in the space industry.

This is the second annual CDSC. This year six teams made it to the final stage of the competition. The teams were the University of Manitoba, the University of Victoria, the University of British Columbia, the University of Waterloo, Concordia University, and a combined team from the École Polytechnique de Montréal and the University of Bologna.

Research at the University of Manitoba is partially supported by funding from the Government of Canada Research Support Fund.
