Governor General visits campus
The Governor General visited the University of Manitoba’s Fort Garry campus on Nov. 26, to meet with President David Barnard and Distinguished Professor Digvir Jayas, vice-president (research and international).
Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, an Honorary Degree Recipient, received a tour of the Richardson Centre for Functional Food and Nutraceuticals with Canada Research Chair Dr. Trust Beta, learning about research breakthroughs involving ancient grains.
The Governor General then visited the Nellie Cournoyea Arctic Research Centre in the Wallace Building, where she had a tour with the professor John Iacozza, director of CEOS, and Distinguished Professor David Barber, learning about some of the trailblazing work our world-renowned sea ice research team is undertaking.
While Her Excellency was on our campus, the Governor General’s flag was raised over the Admin building.
