Classic 107: Double choir: past and present choristers perform in ‘Solomon’
As Winnipeg’s Classic 107 reports:
Over the past three decades, the University of Manitoba Singers have honed the musicianship and performance skills of countless students, exploring new and traditional choral repertoire in dynamic local, national and international concerts.
Friday, March 25, under the direction of Dr. Elroy Friesen, current University Singers are joined by an alumni choir to perform the exultant and exhilarating choruses — and double choruses! — from Handel’s oratorio Solomon.
Featuring a stellar cast of soloists that includes Daniel Taylor, Tracy Dahl and Monica Huisman, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra takes place at 7:30 p.m. in person at the Centennial Concert Hall or online.
Classic 107 morning host and University Singer alumni choir member Simeon Rusnak brought a recorder along to rehearsal and spoke with Elroy, as well as a few fellow choristers about the experience.
