At the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences' convocation ceremonies, two U of M faculty members were recognized for their outstanding contributions to research and teaching

March 17, 2016 — 
Students in the College of Dentistry are doing their part to put smiles on the faces of newcomers to Canada through a new outreach initiative. The Smiles for Miles program helps sponsor dental hygiene care for newcomers to Canada who otherwise not receive it, and provide senior dental hygiene students with the opportunity to provide care free of charge.

March 11, 2016 — 
A well-known fable tells about a group of blind men who encounter an elephant. One touches a leg and says it’s a pillar. Another feels the trunk and claims it’s a tree branch. Yet another grabs the tail and calls it a rope.

November 23, 2015 — 
Two years after its opening, in 1965, the school celebrated its very first class of graduates. This past October — now 50 years later — the school celebrated this milestone achievement with the Spirit of ’65; the largest open alumni reunion ever held by the school.

October 8, 2015 — 
The Faculty of Health Sciences Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs were presented with two national awards of excellence at the National CPD Accreditation Conference.

September 4, 2015 — 
From humble beginnings to its ascendance as one of the top programs of its kind in the nation, the School of Dental Hygiene is preparing to mark a major milestone this autumn at the University of Manitoba. And all alumni of the school are invited along for the ride.

August 31, 2015 — 
A firm focus on the future of the profession has earned a member of the College of Dentistry’s Class of 1976 one of the highest honours in Manitoba oral health. Dr. Melanie Wood has been named the 2015 recipient of the Alumni of Distinction honour. The announcement was confirmed late last week by the University of Manitoba Dental Alumni Association (UMDAA), who present the award in conjunction with the college at the university.

August 27, 2015 — 
Today, dentistry will welcome 29 young professionals into its first–year class, while the School of Dental Hygiene will welcome 26 young professionals into its program.

August 24, 2015 — 
Orientation bus tours at the Bannatyne campus usually don’t incorporate a round of bingo, but this is exactly how first year medicine, dentistry and dental hygiene students are learning more about Winnipeg’s inner city.
