Spring/summer road construction starts up on Fort Garry campus
Allow extra time for travel as infrastructure upgrades continue
Three road construction projects happening at or near UM’s Fort Garry campus will impact traffic flow and travel times to campus for the 2025 construction season. The infrastructure projects are happening on Sifton Road, University Crescent and Pembina Highway.
Sifton Road closed for construction
- Road construction continues on Sifton Road. Starting on Monday, May 5, Sifton Road will be closed west of the Campus Children’s Centre and ABC Parking Lot. See map for traffic detours and access.
- Barricades and safety signage will be clearly posted to safely direct pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles as required. Caution should be taken at all times during construction to ensure everyone’s safety.
- In order to reduce delays, interim pick-up and drop-off locations have been identified across the Fort Garry campus. See map for locations.
- In addition to the Sifton Road construction, campus wide road repairs are expected to commence at the end of May/early June. Temporary lane closures, barricades and flaggers can be expected across campus until the end of August.
