Free to all UM employees; online July 8 to 9

June 29, 2020 —

The 2020 Network for Change and Continuous Innovation (NCCI) conference is taking place online on July 8 and 9, and UM staff and faculty can attend one or multiple sessions for free throughout the two-day event.

The theme of the virtual conference is “Transforming Today’s Reality Into Tomorrow’s Opportunity.” The NCCI program states, “During these rapidly evolving times, our shared commitment to leadership, change management, organizational performance and innovation is more important than ever before.”

The unique conference will cover topics of leadership, change and improvement in the higher education setting.

Employees in leadership roles or those involved in specific initiatives and projects, such as project managers, project coordinators and business analysts, are encouraged to attend. Data analytics will also be covered at the conference, so anyone gathering, synthesizing and sharing data would benefit from the sessions.

Conference available to UM employees at no charge

UM has purchased the unlimited institutional registration package. In order to receive the free sessions, employees must register for a NCCI membership account and select the zero dollar registration.

Similar to in-person conferences, there will be a number of networking opportunities.

UM facilitator shares expertise at conference

Joshua Hartlin is a facilitator and new media specialist in human resources, and will be leading a session on the importance of adult play.

“Quite often play does not receive the recognition it deserves, as it applies to adults and adult play,” says Hartlin.

“We often view play as a child’s endeavour; however, play can be used to give adults the freedom and safety to address some of the more challenging topics and issues in ways that are more engaging, creative and effective. We need play—whether we know it or not.”

The session is titled “Changing Culture: Use Play for Better… (everything)” and will be held on July 8 from 12:30 to 1:20 p.m.
