Previous UM exams as study aids in 2021

April 14, 2021 —

It’s exam time!

And what better way to study for your exams than by taking a look at previous years’ exams!

So, as a service to UM students, here are some actual final exams that UM students faced when they sat down to complete them.

Sure, they are a bit old — but as you prepare for your Chem1101 or Socio3230 exams, just imagine sitting down to see these!

They were found tucked into an old UM yearbook that was donated to Archives & Special Collections. One is an Arts and Science exam from 90 years ago, given in December 1931, while the other was from the following Spring, in April 1932.

Could you: “Write a full note” on Robinson Crusoe’s escape from the island?

Could you: “Contrast the moods of The Lotus Eaters and Ulysses?”

Full marks given only for good penmanship.

No Googling allowed (or whatever Googling was in 1931).
