Joanne Keselman named as Interim Vice-President (Administration)
The following is a message from President and Vice-Chancellor David T. Barnard:
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Joanne Keselman as Interim Vice-President (Administration), effective October 19, 2016.
The position of Vice-President (Administration) has been vacant since April, 2016. At that time, I advised the community that the leadership team within the Vice-President (Administration) portfolio would report directly to me for the short term, until such time as an interim structure was confirmed that would be in place while the search for the new Vice-President (Administration) is underway.
Dr. Keselman is extremely well-placed to fulfil the role of Interim Vice-President (Administration). Her many years of service to the University of Manitoba include a series of important administrative roles, including five years as Associate Vice-President (Research), eleven years as Vice-President (Research) and most recently, seven years as Provost and Vice-President (Academic). She stepped down from this role effective July 1, 2016, and is presently on administrative leave. She has agreed to modify her administrative leave in order to take on this role on an interim basis, and will be bringing to the Vice-President (Administration) portfolio not only her extensive administrative experience, but her familiarity with the University of Manitoba and its operations and her proven leadership capacity. Her administrative career in the University of Manitoba is marked by many examples of her ability to pursue strategic priorities within an environment of constraint, effectively lead change and build relationships. These attributes will be invaluable to the University and to the leadership team within the Vice-President (Administration) portfolio.
Please join me and the rest of the executive team in welcoming Joanne back in this new role. I look forward to our continued work together.
