Flag on Tier Building lowered to half-mast for professor emeritus

The flag on the Tier Building will be lowered to half-mast on Sept. 2 in honour of Dr. Jaroslaw Barwinsky, professor emeritus, department of surgery (Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences).
Barwinsky passed away on Aug. 28.
The Barwinsky family discovered today that our father, Dr. Jaroslaw Barwinsky,Professor Emeritus, Department of Surgery, Max Rady College of Medicine,was honoured yesterday by the University of Manitoba, lowering the flag outside the Tier Building to half-mast. He would have been so proud and humbled. He considered being a university professor one of the greatest privileges in his life and spending time with his medical students was a responsibility he took very seriously. He loved to teach but also spoke about the many things he learned everyday from his students and patients. Thank you for honouring this great man. We are proud to be his children and will miss him greatly.
