Flag at half mast

The administration building flag will be at half-mast on Thursday, May 21 in honour of Kathleen Leary who was tragically killed in Winnipeg on May 19, 2015.

Kathleen was well-known for her contributions to the University College of the North, to her community of Norway House First Nation and to the University of Manitoba, where she served as an Instructor during the period 2004 to 2008. An alum of the University of Manitoba, having earned her B.Ed. in 1987, she was a teacher, an advocate, a mother, a grandmother and a leader.

“I am saddened to learn of the tragic death of Kathleen Leary,” said David Barnard, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Manitoba. “This is a tremendous loss to her family and for the northern communities where she had dedicated much of her life work. On behalf of the University of Manitoba, I offer her family my sincere condolences. The University of Manitoba community mourns alongside our colleagues at the University College of the North who lost a friend.”
