Faculty of Arts launches COVID-19 UM Student Emergency Fund

Fund provides financial support to Arts students directly impacted by the pandemic

May 12, 2020 —

The Faculty of Arts has launched a fund to offer some financial relief to Arts students navigating the ‘new normal’ of pandemic life and studies.

The Faculty of Arts COVID-19 UM Student Emergency Fund provides financial support to Arts undergraduate and graduate students directly impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. The financial support, in the form of a bursary, is thanks to the generous contributions of Arts faculty members and the Faculty of Arts Dean’s Office. These one-time, direct-deposit funds are available to full-time or part-time students registered in the 2019/20 academic year.

For undergraduate students, bursary values will not exceed $800 for full-time studies and $400 for part-time studies. For graduate students, bursary values will not exceed $1000 for full-time studies and $500 for part-time studies.

Successful applicants will meet the following criteria:

  • You must be a University of Manitoba student enrolled in a Faculty of Arts undergrad or graduate degree program.
  • You must have been a full-time or part-time student in the 2019/20 academic year.
  • You must have paid all tuition owing for both the current and from previous academic sessions.
  • You must have repaid all outstanding emergency aid from previous academic sessions.
  • You must have achieved the minimum passing grade on all courses taken in the previous academic session.

NOTE: If you have already received funding through the University of Manitoba COVID 19 Emergency Fund, you cannot receive further awards.

The Faculty of Arts is committed to providing students with support during these challenging times. It is our hope that this fund will help relieve some of your burden.
