January 29, 2018 —

Curious about winter cycling? Try it out on Friday, February 9!

UMCycle and the Office of Sustainability will be hosting pit stops at the Fort Garry and Bannatyne Campuses to reward you for your winter cycling efforts. Pit stops will include hot drinks, bike shaped doughnuts from our friends at Oh Doughnuts and the chance to win great prizes!

Winter Bike to Work Day (WBTWD) is an international event, which seeks to promote winter cycling and the joys of getting outdoors in the winter. If you want to participate, head to winterbiketoworkday.org to register.

Pit stop locations on Friday, February 9:

  • UMCycle Bike Kiosk, Fort Garry Campus (corner of Sidney Smith and Curry Place) – 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
  • Brodie Atrium Entrance, Bannatyne Campus – 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Still not sure you are ready to try winter cycling on WBTWD? Join up with a team leader to have a buddy to support you along your ride. If there is not a team leader in your area, log on to GoManitoba to find a bike mentor along your route. Tune in to our social media accounts for more information about the event and about the team leaders.
