November 10, 2023 — 
After coming from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Tawana came to the University of Manitoba in 2019, where she founded the College's Residence. In settling into a new life in Canada, Tawana felt at home when she walked into the doors of the College. Seeing the space she had in her room, quickly meeting friends in the food hall, and learning the opportunities available at the University, Tawana was excited for what was to come.

November 8, 2023 — 
In coming to UM, Dharmil was excited to start this new adventure in business while doing his first semester online after travelling to Canada during the pandemic. After getting to Canada, Dharmil wasted no time getting involved at UM, where he found council work, extra-circular activities, and a co-op opportunity with the Asper School of Business.   

October 27, 2023 — 
The St John’s college residence is a diverse place filled with students from all over the world. From Malaysia, India, Africa, and other countries worldwide, the students feel at home when they walk into the building.     We caught up with Dean of Residence Matthew Bowman as the college looks to fill available rooms with January 2024 and Summer 2024 students looking for accommodation.    

September 27, 2023 — 
Asper MBA alum Paris Fragkoulis has recently advanced to the role of assistant deputy minister, procurement and supply chain, with the Government of Manitoba. His impressive professional progress is due at least in part to his thoughtful and passionate approach to public service.

September 12, 2023 — 
Dating back to 1866, when St John’s College first opened, Matriculation has been an annual event where new students, staff, and fellows are welcomed into the college.

August 25, 2023 — 
On September 7th, St John's college student council (SJCSA) will host their annual Jumpstart event to launch the 2023/24 academic year.

From South Africa to Asia, our residence students come from all over the world as they call St John’s College home when studying as University of Manitoba students.

Frank Tao, a Master of Finance (MFin) student at the Asper School of Business, has just marked the one-year anniversary of his arrival in Canada, and as an international student, his motivations for pursuing his MFin lie somewhere between practicality and self-discovery.
