President Barnard thanks community for participating in town hall

January 28, 2015 —

The President’s Town Hall 2015 was well-attended by students, staff and faculty who engaged productively with President and Vice-Chancellor David T. Barnard and members of the executive team.

President Barnard opened the meeting with highlights of the past year’s successes, an overview of our strategic plan, and a detailed summary of the University’s financial situation.

“Community engagement fosters a healthy and collegial university environment, and that engagement was evident in the number of important questions raised at the town hall,” said President Barnard. “I appreciate the willingness of our community to provide input, and I look forward to continued information sharing and discussion.”

The question and answer period focused primarily on the proposed budget cuts and President Barnard extended the length of the meeting to accommodate more questions.

The full town hall can be viewed below or at umanitoba.ca/townhall. Anyone who submitted questions via the website should expect a response within the week.
