Notification of construction: University Centre foundation waterproofing

June 26, 2017 — 

On June 28 work will begin on the University Centre Foundation Waterproofing project, starting with the installation of construction fencing for the staging area.  Starting after the Canada Day long weekend on July 4, the contractor will begin with the excavation of the ramp and the repairs to the West stairs.  The work will be completed in three phases to allow for continued access to the stairs to the University Centre exterior concourse and the walkway in front of Engineering 3.  

Phase 1 (Green on Site Plan)

Will include the excavation of the ramp and the repairs of the West stairs and railings.  During this work the West stairs will be fenced off and access to the University Centre exterior concourse will be at the South stairs, signage will be posted directing pedestrians.

Phase 2 (Blue on Site Plan)

Upon completion of the West stairs work will begin on the South stairs.  Access to the University Centre exterior concourse will be at the West stairs, signage will be posted directing pedestrians.

Phase 3 (Orange on Site Plan)

Excavation will occur at the front of the entrance canopy of Engineering 3 for repairs to the foundation’s waterproofing.  The immediate area will be fenced off but will not obstructed pedestrian flow in front of or into the Engineering 3 building.

 

Excavation which requires the use of equipment and that which will produce excessive noise and vibration will be conducted prior to 8:30am.  As the work occurs there will be some noise experienced including within the tunnels below.
