Nominations Open for the Campus Sustainability Awards

Do you have a friend or student group who shows leadership, creativity and dedication to a sustainability on campus? If so, nominate them for a 2019 Campus Sustainability Award.

The University of Manitoba Campus Sustainability Awards recognize and celebrate the collaborative efforts of student and student groups to advance our campus commitment to excellence and leadership in sustainability.

The inaugural Campus Sustainability Awards offer the opportunity to be recognized in the following categories:

Undergraduate Student Sustainability Award
Graduate Student Sustainability Award
Student Group Sustainability Award

Nominations will be reviewed and the award recipients will be selected by the U of M Sustainability Committee. The winners for the 2019 Campus Sustainability Awards will be announced at Sustainability Night on March 7, 2019.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, February 15.

Waste Watchers: Composition and contamination

The Office of Sustainability, in collaboration with Operations and Maintenance, is leading a waste composition study for the week of March 18. A team will be collecting a day’s worth of waste from a variety of high-traffic areas around the Fort Garry and Bannatyne campuses and sorting through everything they find in our garbage, recycling and organics bins.

Sustainability Night 2024 is Mar. 13!

The University of Manitoba’s annual Sustainability Night is coming up on Mar. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Marshall McLuhan Hall. This year’s theme is the UM Climate Action Plan (CAP), which will be the main focus of presentations from UM faculty, students and staff.
