Mobile payment for parking now available

Mobile app makes it easy for students, staff, and visitors to pay for parking from their mobile devices

September 27, 2016 —

Students, faculty, staff and visitors will now be able to use the new Parkmobile app to pay for parking at approximately 1,500 spaces in 14 lots throughout the University of Manitoba’s Fort Garry and Bannatyne campuses. Customers can pay to park with their smartphones using Parkmobile’s app for iPhone, Android, and Windows phones or by calling the toll-free number on the green meter stickers and signs.

Parkmobile, LLC, is a leading provider of mobile-enabled parking and mobility-related services.

“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Parkmobile, providing our community members and visitors with a more convenient way to pay for parking,” says Cameron Neufeld, manager of parking services. “Winnipeg’s climate presents challenges, especially in the winter. Providing customers with a way to pay from the comfort of their vehicle or inside a building is something we have long strived to do.”

Parkmobile’s mobile payments system is very simple and easy to use. Customers first must register by downloading the mobile app in their phone’s app store or online at www.parkmobile.com. Once registered, they may use the mobile app, internet or the toll-free number listed on signage to pay for parking. After setting up their account, customers can immediately start using the system with their registered mobile phone. Mobile app users may also choose to receive alerts and reminders 15 minutes prior to their parking session expiring.

This Parkmobile service also provides customers the ability to receive alerts when their meter time is about to expire, extend their time remotely without returning to the meter, utilize credit cards in locations that do not offer manual credit card payments, as well as print and keep receipts for parking.

Enforcement officers will be able to see that a motorist has paid with Parkmobile using their wireless handheld devices, so customers should not worry when the meter does not change. Parkmobile’s mobile payment solution is an added payment option intended to complement existing parking payment options. All existing forms of payment are still valid for use.
