Message to Mini U parents

August 29, 2016 —

On August 24, 2016, the Winnipeg Police Service arrested a suspect in a child pornography investigation. The suspect, Daniel Kamenicky, was charged with several offenses and detained in custody.

The accused was contracted for two weeks by Mini U this past summer as well as on four previous occasions since 2012.  He worked in the Mini U Magic Mania camp classroom. The police investigation is ongoing. The WPS has at this time assured Mini U that there is no reason to believe that any incidents happened during this individual’s involvement with Mini U.

Parents of Mini U students have been sent a letter informing them of the situation.

“Providing a safe environment for Mini U participants is our top priority,” states the letter. “We take precautions to ensure that Mini U participants are safe and in no danger.”
