Eligibility The Doctoral Award for Indigenous Students will be offered to meritorious graduate students who demonstrate significant research ability and scholarly potential, and who meet the minimum eligibility requirements below:

(1) have self-declared as a First Nations, Métis or Inuit person from Canada;

(2) are enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, and within the first four years of any doctoral program;

(3) have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.0 based on the last 60 credit hours (or equivalent) of study; and,

(4) if they are a continuing student, are in good standing with the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Each year, awards with a maximum value of $10,000 will be offered to students. Preference will be given to students who graduated from a high school in Manitoba, but all eligible applicants are encouraged to apply. Not all applicants who meet the minimum eligibility requirements are guaranteed to receive an award.

The award is not automatically renewable; therefore, continuing students are required to submit an application annually to be considered for an award. Completed applications must be submitted directly to the Faculty of Graduate Studies by the application deadline.

Recipients may hold this award concurrently with any other awards consistent with policies in the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

The application must include the following:

(1) a detailed statement (maximum two pages) of your proposed research that outlines project objectives, methods, interpretive frameworks, anticipated outcomes, etc.;

(2) two letters of support, one of which must be from your advisor or your prospective advisor; and

(3) a current curriculum vitae (CV).
