Indigenous Celebration Stations student Instagram takeover

September 15, 2016 —

Indigenous Orientation was celebrated this week on campus to highlight Indigenous culture and transition new students to campus life. 4th year Fine Arts Honours student Kristin Flattery took over the UofM student Instagram account on Wednesday, September 14th to give an inside look at the Indigenous Celebration Stations and games. She is a volunteer and the new female co-president of the University of Manitoba Aboriginal Students Association. Here’s what she captured!

Thank-you so much to all our students who came out to our annual Indigenous Celebration Stations. Elder Norman Meade was outside jigging and speaking to our students. Please feel free to come speak with our Elders in residence. They are incredibly knowledgable souls who selflessly love to guide and nurture our students. Thank-you everyone and please stop by Migizii Agamik as we have more fun events happening this week. Migizii Agamik will be continuing the, “I Declare Indigenous Because” campaign so please come by and take a picture with our posters. Kitchii Miigwetch to all the UMstudent followers for all your love and support today. ~ Kristin Flattery #umstudent #umindigenous #umorientation #umstudenttakeover #umanitoba #umtakeover #ideclareindigenous
